In a surprising partnership that defies conventional forecasts, the game developer has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Disclosed

According to the formal announcement, "An unusual confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of banned ceremonies and terrifying changes echo through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine cult.

The mission centers on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Transformations

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Additional Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an special katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

Third Free Story Content

This release also brings the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
