Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a ex- physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
