Individual Who Approached Ariana Grande on the occasion of Movie Premiere Barred from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted past a barrier and reached for actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and banned from Singapore.
Johnson Wen, twenty-six, was given a sentence to over a week in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities stated to Singaporean press.
Wen pushed past photographers and approached aggressively the actress and singer, who was present at the Asian premier for the film on November 13. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
Wen has a history of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including jumping on stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in the past June.
The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with many claiming he of causing further distress to the star.
The pop star has mentioned dealing with PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her show in Manchester in several years ago took the lives of 22 individuals and affected hundreds.
During Wen's trial, the authorities learned he had tried to gain access on the film's premiere on two occasions, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Security staff stopped him and restrained him.
Wen later posted video clips appreciating the celebrity for permitting his access and said he was "free."
Law enforcement took him into custody the next day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which he confessed.
The Presiding Judge the judicial official was referenced by a news outlet as stating that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was wrong to think he would not experience repercussions.
The actress has not spoken about the situation.
The co-star spoke about the event to a media outlet, remarking that she "simply desired to ensure my friend was protected."
"I'm sure he didn't mean us danger, but you can't predict with these incidents, and I sought to confirm that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she commented.
