Starting Lineup

The star midfielder Played in a forward role out wide and also did plenty of the hard yards. Displayed moments of class and dragged an effort over. Replaced in the closing stages by Rogers, his rival, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Had England’s clearest opportunity in the opening period, his shot excellently kept out from the Albanian keeper. As a teammate holding position, it fell to him to offer an outlet on the right but his crosses from wide areas were inconsistent. Substituted late in the match. 6/10

The captain The match-winner scoring seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth finishes in an England shirt. The first a trademark poacher’s finish and the second an excellent headed goal having drifted away off his defender.
