Seamer Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Worries.

'Serious blow' for the touring side after Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

The pace bowler added to England's injury problems when he left the ground on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his hamstring after the final ball that he bowled at the MCG.

The touring camp reported the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and required time away from the action to undergo evaluation "during the day".

The final Test of the tour beginning on 4 January begins on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have been without fast bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was called up as injury reinforcement.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was left out of the third Test, before being recalled for the fourth Test in the playing XI.

Atkinson improved at the MCG, taking two wickets with the ball, before adding 28 as a batsman being one of only three teammates who passed ten runs.

Post a single over at the end of day one, he came back the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

However, on the final ball of that over, he delivered a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Melbourne match following his omission of the third.
