The former Liverpool manager admits coming back to lead Liverpool is conceivable.
The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought Champions League success and ending the club's long wait for three decades, currently occupies positions in a global football capacity within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the possibility that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he told Steven Bartlett: “I declared I will never coach another team in England. So that means in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”
“Being 58, so I might decide in a few years, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Pressed on which situations must arise to draw him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to press conferences four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.
“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the players talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere in the building. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear for example.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, though he denied the notion of it representing a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, superb talent. It’s a really good balanced team. No need for concern about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of the Portuguese star, a player he signed in 2020, and the effect for the team. The Portugal international lost his life in a vehicle collision alongside his brother recently.
“Can you substitute a person like him? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. A devastating blow for all the boys as well. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse yet it's the reality. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Dealing with that individually is challenging. Overwhelming.”
