Spurs supporters who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "those individuals cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Tottenham conceded two goals in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth Premier League home defeat of the year.

But the main talking point was Fulham's next goal when Vicario gave away the ball far outside his box.

The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball near the touchline.

But, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italy international turned and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at 36.6 metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, a number of Spurs supporters booed him.

The team were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing episodes truly irritated the manager.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly booed the situation and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Dane stated regarding the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] cannot be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Fair enough booing after the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are with each other moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second-half showing.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart stated that the second score was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the role Vicario is playing. He is a great squad member, he is a real leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.

"He was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the winning score."

'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Italy international the keeper is in his third season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to take the feedback.

"That score was a error of my own, I take responsibility for that," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an even bigger mountain to climb."

He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "We cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to stay more calm, to focus on our own performance. The team is lacking in composure and calmness to reverse outcomes. This match is a poor loss and it's hard to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Goal Line'

Despite Vicario's error, it was not an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second most distant Premier League score of the season – after Adams' 43.3 metre goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which incidentally too occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty net to target.

Ten seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds following the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the area for ages," Wilson said.

"It amazed me none of the back four returned to the line. When not one of them covered the net, my eyes sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a little additional opportunity. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the correct contact and place it towards goal. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Work Against You'

While Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home ground woes.

This was their tenth at home loss of the year in the Premier League, a joint team statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to play prior to the close of the year.

Just a single of those victories have come since Frank took over from his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, everything appears to work against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the next is a error from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have suffered another game. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can use to develop."

Tottenham have been defeated in four consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

And they are averaging 9.5 shots and three point two efforts on goal per game in the Premier League – their poorest rates on file in a single season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the stick," Murphy said. "He has accepted a high profile job at a major football club with massive anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.
