Trump Calls Relatives of Shot Guard Soldiers to the White House
President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Devastating Event
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Memorials across the state have been held in their remembrance.
White House Invitation
The president explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Reaction
Attendees assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the principal of her former high school, informed the media. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to help others.”
Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Policy Revisions
Officials have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while armed.
The event caused the government to halt refugee claims and cease granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor the governor said on a news program.
Attorney general Bondi informed a news show that she aimed to visit the family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” he told the audience at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
